Lady Nighthawks win streak snapped by Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. -- The North Georgia women's basketball team had its season-opening six-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday evening with a 77-65 setback at Lenoir-Rhyne.<br />

Cierra Jackson led North Georgia with 17 points but the Nighthawks couldn't maintain an 8-2 advantage coming out of the gate. Stephanie Huffman tallied 16 points and nine assists for UNG.<br />
<br />
While battling foul trouble, Kelsey Hutchins added 10 points in just 22 minutes of play.<br />
<br />
The Nighthawks connected on a dismal 2-of-16 (13%) from behind the three-point line. <br />
<br />
A pair of free throws by Lenoir-Rhyne freshman guard Cheyenne Logan broke a 15-15 tie with 4:47 left in the first half and the Bears never trailed again.<br />
<br />
Lenoir-Rhyne (2-4) held a 29-21 advantage at halftime and led by as many as 14 points after intermission.<br />
<br />
North Georgia faces Chowan in the Heritage Bank Holiday Classic hosted by Clayton State on Friday in Morrow, Ga., at 3:30 p.m.
