Dawson County's Parker among three signees for UNG women's basketball

DAHLONEGA -- University of North Georgia women's basketball head coach Buffie Burson has announced that three local standouts have signed with the Nighthawks as part of the 2015 early signing period. Ashley Parker (Dawson County), Madison Phillips (Mill Creek) and Brianna McGee (Central Gwinnett) each inked to join the UNG women's basketball program for the 2014-15 season. <br /> <br /> Parker is a 5-10 forward from nearby Dawson County that led her team to AAA state finals as a sophomore. The three-time All-Region selection averaged 15 points and nine rebounds as a junior.<br /> <br /> "Ashley is a tough competitor who brings versatility to our program," stated Burson. "She is a excellent three-point shooter yet can battle down low with the posts. She has a real knack for the ball and is a great rebounder. Ashley is a local player who bleeds North Georgia blue and we are thrilled to have her a part of or team."<br /> <br /> Phillips is a 5-9, All-Region guard from Mill Creek that averaged nine points and four rebounds while connecting on 47 three pointers her junior year.<br /> <br /> "We are fortunate to sign a player like Madison who has a tremendous basketball IQ having played for her father, Mill Creek Head Coach Ashley Phillips. Madison is a sharp shooter, with an exceptional ability to feed the post and rebound from the guard position."<br /> <br /> McGee is a 5-8, All-Region combo guard from Central Gwinnett where she averaged 11 points, three steals and three rebounds per contest as a junior.<br /> <br /> "Briana is a dynamic guard who will bring a lot of excitement to our team. She's quick and explosive and is a great defender. She will add athleticism and creativity to already talented backcourt."
