GAINESVILLE - The applicant with one of three residential-related requests scheduled for consideration by the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board Dec. 9 has asked that it be withdrawn.

Planning department officials said Tuesday that Cochran Properties, Inc., has decided to withdraw its variance request. But, they point out that since the legal ad and public notice letters have already been distributed, the board will need to approve the withdrawal at the meeting.

The application involved four existing Residential-I (R-I) lots consisting of 3.7 acres on Springdale Road near its intersection with Park Street Place. Four single-family homes were proposed for the site. Planning officials say they have nothing in their files to indicate why the request to withdraw is being made.

Also on the planning board's agenda for Dec. 9 are a rezoning request from Reuben Black to rezone a 0.85-acre tract on Longview Drive near Springway Drive from Planned Unit Development (P-U-D) to Residential-I, which would clear the way for construction of a single-family home.

The third request is from Tread and Deborah Syfan and seeks to amend the existing Planned Unit Development (P-U-D) zoning on a 5.4 acres at the cul-de-sac end of
Greystone Road, west of Tommy Aaron Drive. The request is for four residential lots for the tract.
The board meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Gainesville Justice Center/Public Safety Building on Queen City Parkway.
