Man found dead at scene of suspicious fire in Jefferson

JEFFERSON - An investigation is underway in Jackson County after a man was found dead at the scene of a structure fire just after 3:15 Thursday afternoon.<br /> <br /> Fire investigators said the man was found dead in a vehicle outside the burning structures at 394 Bell Wood Road in Jefferson. He did not die, however, as the result of the fire. The cause of death is under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Jackson County Coroner.<br /> <br /> Authorities said the fire, which involved several structures, is suspicious in nature and state fire officials are looking for the cause.<br /> <br /> <br />
