CLEMSON, S.C. -- Injured Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson won't return this week.

The team's injury report Thursday listed Watson as out for the Tigers (7-3) home contest Saturday against Georgia State (1-9). Watson sprained a ligament and bruised a bone in his left knee in the first quarter of Clemson's 28-6 loss at No. 17 Georgia Tech (No. 18 CFP) last week. Watson had missed the Tigers three previous games with a broken bone in his throwing hand.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had previously said backup Cole Stoudt would start against the Panthers.

Swinney had initially thought Watson's knee injury was more serious, but tests revealed only a ligament sprain and the coach said the freshman could play again this season.
Clemson closes the regular season on Nov. 29 against rival South Carolina.
