Plemmons hits record 9 treys to lead Nighthawks past Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. -- Behind a single-game school-record from Tanner Plemmons, the North Georgia men's basketball team posted a 104-91 win at Brevard on Tuesday night in BC's Boshamer Gymnasium.<br />

The junior guard and former Rabun County High standout deposited a game-high 34 points, including 9-of-14 from behind the 3-point line to lead the Nighthawks to their second win of the young season. <br />
<br />
The nine made three-pointers set a new North Georgia single game record for 3-pointers bettering the previous mark by one. Plemmons connected on his first four attempts from long range and would go on to make five more after halftime.<br />

The Nighthawks led by as many as 20 in first half, but the host Tornados trimmed the UNG lead back down to 11 (46-35) at the break.<br />
<br />
A layup by BC's Moose would cut the UNG lead to seven (57-50) with 13:29 remaining in the game, but North Georgia responded with a 12-4 run to extend the cushion back to double figures for good.<br />
<br />
Plemmons was one of five players in double figures as former Gainesville High standout Shaquan Cantrell and former North Hall standout Ebo Smith pitched in with 13 apiece and Sean Brennan and Travis Core each added 11 points. Moose paced Brevard (0-3) with a team-high 25 points.<br />
<br />
UNG held a commanding 37-27 edge on the glass and the Nighthawks connected on 27-33 (82%) of their free throws, compared to 20-35 (57%) from Brevard.<br />
<br />
Cantrell led North Georgia with eight rebounds while Core dished out a team-best eight assists.<br />
<br />
North Georgia (2-0) returns to the court on Thursday (Nov. 20) when the Nighthawks host Emmanuel at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
