Upon receiving the news, Phillips said, "I am beyond humbled to be recognized by our system. We are blessed tohave amazing teachers all around our county and to be chosen from that group is an amazing honor. I am truly rewarded in being given the opportunity to teach at my alma mater alongside the greatest faculty and students around." <br />

Phillips will now compete with other system winners from across the state for the honor of being selected Georgia Teacher of the Year.
