Class AAAA cross country meet: Gearing finishes fourth <b> (VIDEO) </b>

CARROLLTON -- Jenna Gearing's state championship runs came to an end Saturday in the Class AAAA girls state cross country meet.<br />
<br />
Gearing, a White County junior, came into the race as the two-time defending Class AAA girls champion but ran into a Marist triumvirate that was just too much tp hold off.<br />
<br />
Marist placed the top three individual runners in the race, with Morgan Ilse taking the title with a 18:24.90 time that was nearly a minute faster than the rest of the field. Gearing finished in a time of 19:26.85.<br />
<br />
Marist was just four spots from posting a perfect score and blew away the field with just 20 points. St. Pius was second with 117, Heritage Catoosa was third with 135, and White County took fourth with 151 points.<br />
<br />
Buford finished sixth with 180 points and Johnson was eighth with 266 points. <br />
<br />
Chestatee freshman Lindsey Grater had a solid first state meet finishing fifth. Lauryn Davidson led Buford with a 13th place showing and Makayla Ellis finished 18th for North Hall.<br />
<br />
In the Class AAAA boys race, North Hall's Quintin Miles finished fourth and helped lead the Trojans to a sixth place team finish.<br />
<br />
North Hall finished with 160 points. St. Pius won the team title with 55 points. Johnson, also from Region 8-AAAA, finished seventh with 248 points.<br />
<br />
The Knights' Gerardo Suarez finished 11th with a 17:04.22 time.<br />
<br />
Chestatee finished 11th with 368 points.
