State sues Corps over water supply requests; Deal cites handling of similar issue involving Lake Lanier

ATLANTA (AP) -- The state of Georgia is asking a federal judge to force the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to evaluate the state's requests for additional water supply storage at Lake Allatoona.<br />

The state filed a lawsuit Friday in federal court in Atlanta seeking to compel the Corps to update its water control plans and manuals for Lake Allatoona and other reservoirs in the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa river basin.<br />

"It's frustrating to find the Corps unwilling to do what it has committed to do in the adjoining Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) basin (which includes Lake Lanier)
