NEWNAN, Ga. (AP) -- School officials in west Georgia say about 150 students will undergo testing for tuberculosis.
The skin tests are expected to be administered Friday at Newnan High School in Coweta County.

The Georgia Department of Public Health sent letters to parents of Newnan High students, telling them that one student was suspected of having TB.

A district health director wrote in the letter that the risk of infection from that initial case is minimal.
Health officials wrote in the letters that the most common way to become infected is to spend a long period of time with a person who has active TB disease. They said that TB infection can be treated and cured and prevented from progressing to active disease if it is identified and treated.
