TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) NASCAR race fans Kevin Lane and Ashlea Leggett got married on the Talladega Superspeedway infield before the GEICO 500 Sunday.

The Athens, Georgia couple attended the race last year. It was their first big trip as a couple. So they asked their friends to gather at the track before the GEICO 500 and help them celebrate their marriage.

Some brought motorhomes and some stayed in tents nearby. They all gathered in and around a 10x10 foot white tent, complete with flowers and a large rug, nestled between three motorhomes near turn 3 at 10 a.m. sharp.
The music was played on a smartphone with a bluetooth connection to a small speaker.

Ashlea put on her makeup and did her hair in a motorhome bathroom about the size of a phone booth. Kevin waited anxiously outside with friends and family and made small talk until the big moment.

Amidst the typical noise of the Talladega race day infield, Rev. Geoffrey Joyner, Ashlea's church minister, officiated the wedding ceremony. He spoke loudly as helicopters flew overhead.

The 15-minute ceremony ended with a wedding kiss and applause from the crowd of family and friends.
When Ashlea and Kevin met, she was the big NASCAR race fan. She got Kevin involved and now he is the bigger fan. "He is a much bigger fan now," Ashlea explained. "I've been a race fan for fifteen years now he has caught up."
After the ceremony, Kevin had to wipe tear from his eyes. Then the entire crowd shared wedding cake and watched the race.
