Volleyball: East Hall rallies past Ringgold to advance

GAINESVILLE -- The East Hall girls volleyball team held off Ringgold in a tough five-set match Wednesday to advance to the second round of the Class AAA state playoffs at home.<br /> <br /> The Area 7-AAA No. 1 seed Lady Vikings (43-14) rallied from behind twice before winning the final tow sets for a 23-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 15-9 victory. <br /> <br /> Minette Maldonado had 16 points on serve to go with 15 kills and 11 digs for East Hall. Allyson Segars had 14 points on serve with six aces, 23 kills, five assists and 19 digs and Emily Roberts had 13 kills and five blocks for the Lady Vikings.<br /> <br /> Ashleigh Burnett had five kills and seven digs, Savannah Lindsey had 25 digs, and Cassida Shockley had six kills, seven digs and 45 assists for East Hall.<br /> <br /> East Hall next will play host to Kendrick next Tuesday in the second round.
