Authorities recover body of Lanier drowning victim

GAINESVILLE - Authorities have recovered the body of a Decatur man who drowned in Lake Lanier while trying to retrieve his boat when it drifted out onto the lake.<br /> <br /> Hall County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Cagle said the incident happened just before 10 p.m. at Clarks Bridge Park.Cagle said the victim tried to make it back to shore, but went under and never resurfaced.<br /> <br /> Authorities looked for the victim for about an hour before abandoning their search for the night.<br /> <br /> Divers with the Hall County Sheriff's Office Dive Team and the Department of Natural Resources resumed the search Monday morning and found the body of 60-year-old Earl Cosby around 11:45 a.m.<br /> <br /> Hall County authorities said Cosby's body was discovered in about 5 1/2 feet of water near the boat ramp at Clarks Bridge Park.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
