ATHENS -- Former Alabama director of player development and South Alabama defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer has been named a defensive assistant at Georgia.
Georgia did not announce what position Sherrer will coach.
Sherrer was South Alabama's defensive coordinator in 2013 following three years on Alabama's staff. Sherrer worked with new Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt at Hoover (Ala.) High School and at Alabama.
Sherrer and Pruitt were teammates with Georgia offensive line coach Will Friend at Alabama. Sherrer has experience recruiting at Georgia high schools.
Sherrer also previously worked as an assistant coach at Spain Park (Ala.) High School and Tuscaloosa County (Ala.) High. He played at Alabama as a tight end from 1993-95.
