With a rare for North Georgia forecast of single-digit temperatures and well below freezing wind chilills for Friday mroning, the Red Cross says there are some things you should do for your car and yourself before you leave home in the morning.
Starting with the car, make sure you have at least a half a tank of gas before you turn in Thursday night to help prevent freezing in the gas line - and be sure to have the battery checked.
Wear warm, loose-fitting, lightweight clothing in several layers and wear a hat and gloves or mittens and make sure there are blankets and extra coats or jackets in the car. The extra clothing and blankets could come in handy in helping keep you warm in case your car stalls or you are in a wreck.
