Gulfstream adding 100 jobs in Brunswick expansion

By The Associated Press
BRUNSWICK (AP) -- Corporate jet manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. is expanding its service center in Brunswick, a move that's expected to bring 100 new jobs to the coastal Georgia city.

Gulfstream on Tuesday announced plans to build a $25 million maintenance repair and overhaul facility with 110,000 square feet of space. The company already employs about 200 workers in Brunswick at its service center and a completions facility that installs furniture, entertainment systems and other finishing touches to its aircraft.

Gulfstream is scheduled to complete its Brunswick expansion by May 2015.

Mark Burns, the company's president for product support, said growth in sales of Gulfstream jets has increased demand for service and maintenance.

Gulfstream is a subsidiary of General Dynamics and is headquartered in Savannah, where the jet maker employs about 9,400 workers.
