Fire destroys home in south Hall

By B.J. Williams
FLOWERY BRANCH - Hall County firefighters battled the wind and sub-freezing temperatures as they worked to control a fire at a house on Loving Road in the south end of the county.

Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said crews were called to the scene just off Old Orr Road around 9 a.m. and found the 2,500 square-foot home in flames. He said the house was destroyed.

"This was a difficult fire to fight...with the sub freezing temperatures and most of all the wind," said Cagle. "The wind is really what made the fire get much bigger in size."

Cagle said firefighters were able to rescue two cats from the basement of the home. The animals were turned over to Hall County Animal Control.

He said no one was home at the time of the fire, and investigators are working to notify the homeowners about the loss. At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
