GAINESVILLE -- Riverside Military Academy fell behind quickly to Class AA sixth-ranked Washington-Wilkes and never recovered in a 50-14 loss to the Tigers in both teams' Region 8-AA opener at Maginnis Field.
Washington-Wilkes (4-0, 1-0 Region 8-AA) came into the game averaging more than 63 points game and nearly hit its average behind Jaquavious Blackburn, who ran for 228 yards and two touchdowns (74-, and 75-yards) to pace the Tigers.
Blackburn's two long touchdown runs was almost more offense than Riverside was able to generate against the stout Tigers defense.
Riverside (1-2, 0-1) managed just 58 yards rushing on 23 carries while Washington-Wilkes ran for 319 yards on 36 rushes.
Quarterback Collin Pettell had a nice game going 10-for-15 for 96 yards and one TD passing for Riverside. Joseph Garuba had 84 yards on 18 carries for the Eagles.
Riverside's only scores came on Raleigh Beougher's 9-yard TD run and a 32-yard TD pass from Pettell to JeJuan McCalston.
