Raiders defense shuts down Chattahoochee in 6-AAAAAA road win

By staff reports
ALPHARETTA -- It's been eight years since North Forsyth has opened a season with four straight wins.

But after Friday night's 28-6 win over Chattahoochee to open Region 6-AAAAAA play, that's exactly where the Raiders (4-0, 1-0 Region 6-AAAAAA) sit.

Zach Slaton rushed for 71 yards and helped break the game open in the second quarter with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Harris Roberts one play after Chattahoochee (2-2, 0-1) had cut the lead to 7-3 on a 39-yard field goal by Adam Abdellaoui to end the first quarter.

jamal Davenport, who rushed for 95 yards, had given the Raiders a 7-0 lead on an 8-yard TD run in the first quarter. Abdellaoui would cut the lead to 14-6 on a 49-yard field goal late in the second quarter.

Roberts would extend North Forsyth's lead to 21-6 on a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter and Joseph Bailey kicked a 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the final score.

North Forsyth ran for 222 yards on the night but it was Raiders defense that was the difference. They held the Cougars to just 14 yards rushing and 34 total yards in the second half.

Chattahoochee came into the game averaging over 33 points a game.
