NGTC hosts GPPA School

CLARKESVILLE - Each year professional and amateur photographers from around the country gather on the North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) Clarkesville Campus for a week of education and networking. This year marks the 46rd consecutive meeting of the Georgia Professional Photographers Association (GPPA) and over 60 students, vendors, and instructors spent the week learning about new technologies.

Classes covered a variety of topics including basic photography, family and school portraits, lighting, and software programs. This year's event drew participants from as far away as California and New York.

One popular class was taught by Lou Freeman on location at an old country store.

"We were fortunate to be able to secure this setting for an unusual glamor shot," said NGTC Photography Instructor Jeff Gulle. "The entire week focuses on creative thinking and outside-the-box approaches to all aspects of photography."

The GPPA organization focuses on photographic education, artistic inspiration, and friendships to last a life time. It promotes integrity and the advancement of professional photography as a respected and honored profession.

"We look forward all year to this event," said NGTC Photography instructor Jeff Gulle. "It is an honor to have nationally known instructors here on campus, and it is exciting to give our students the luxury of learning from them."

NGTC students also participated in many of the classes during the week with the GPPA members, picking up ideas from professionals as well as establishing connections that could help them in the future.
