MACON -- John Russ tossed three touchdown passes and Mercer amassed 402 yards rushing in a 61-0 rout of Warner Southern on Saturday night.
JeTarii Donald led Mercer's rushing attack with 102 yards, while Payton Usher added 98 yards, and Caleb Brown scored on two short runs. Russ also ran for a touchdown.
After missing a field goal on its first drive, Mercer scored on every remaining drive except its last one, which ended with the Bears running out the clock. Mercer finished with 570 total yards.
Warner Southern (0-2) managed only 113 total yards and totaled just 1 yard rushing on 23 attempts.
All of four of the touchdowns Russ accounted for occurred in the first half when Mercer outscored Warner Southern 34-0.
With the win, Mercer (2-0) remains undefeated in its first year of football since 1941.
