CUMMING - Eighteen hundred people came out to the grand opening of the new Forsyth County Library on Post Road. The library opened Saturday, August 24.
The new library is a 23,500 square foot building fully equipped for the digital age. According to the Forsyth County Public Library System's website, the new location will eventually hold 96,000 volumes and boasts a 100-seat meeting room, 38 public access computers and Wi-Fi access. The building is also LEED certified - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - according to the website.
The new facility was funded by SPLOST VI as well as a capital projects construction grant from the state. The funds totaled about $7.2 million, according the website.
