What I think about the Syrian Situation

Some have Asked, "Dr. T, What do you THINK about This Syrian situation"? Well, Read on if you are interested.

My first impression.....What a Big "Mess", Bottom line for Me, I don't see how our involvement to the degree being discussed is OUR best option.

First, how is helping one EVIL Mob, Defeat an Equally EVIL Mob going to bring any Good resolution.......

Second, Listen to the Christians over there. They KNOW what will happen to the 10's of 1000s of Christians when a rigidly Islamist regime is empowered should the Rebels win.
(Btw...Senator McCain, SHOW ME THE MODERATES in the Rebel Leadership)

Already, Christians have suffered terrible persecution in rebel-controlled areas, with countless reports of murder, rape, and extortion. Syria has always been a complex place religiously. Although the country has a substantial Sunni Muslim majority, it also has large minority communities-Christians, Alawites, and others-who together make up over a quarter of the population.

Those communities have survived very successfully in Syria for centuries, but the present revolution is a threat to their continued existence.

So here is the nightmare. If the U.S., France, and some miscellaneous allies strike at the regime, they could conceivably so weaken it that it would collapse. Out of the ruins would emerge a radically anti-Western regime, which would kill or expel several million Christians and Alawites.

I don't know the answer, but who can deny that trusting or cooperating to ANY DEGREE with Radical ISLAMIST is the Answer?

I don't see anything Good coming from our Government's Present Considerations regarding Syria.

tom
