CHESTNUT MOUNTAIN - Eagle Ranch presented its first Volunteer of the Year Award to Jack Capps Thursday night.
Capps is one of the longest serving volunteers at Eagle Ranch and was presented the award at the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. In addition, the award will be named for him.
The dinner honored everyone who volunteers the Christ-centered home for boys and girls in crisis.
Eagle Ranch had more than 400 volunteers donate over 1,500 hours of service in 2012.
Volunteers provide numerous services, including:
Providing meals to homes
Landscaping and mowing
Creating handmade quilts to welcome each new child at the Ranch
Dental and medical services to staff
Tutoring children at our school
Small engine and equipment repair and maintenance
Creating birthday baskets for housemoms
Helping with special events, including an annual golf tournament
Training our children to compete in a super sprint triathlon
Leading activities for our children's annual Activity Day (field day)
