Three people, including an incumbent, qualified for city council races in Clermont Friday - the last day of qualifying.
They are Bret Adams, Michael Bradley Armour and councilwoman Mary Ellen Rogers.
Lynn Adams (no relation to Bret Adams) and Kristi Crumpton had qualified earlier this week. Mayor James Nix will be unopposed for another term.
Friday was also the last day to qualify in Gillsville, but no one did. That leaves Mayor Larry Poole and councilmen Roy Turpin and Jim Butler, who qualified earlier in the week, without any opposition in the Nov. 5 elections.
Qualifying had closed in Hall County's other municipalities Wednesday but in a development Friday, Gainesville city officials announced that two men who came in at the last minute Wednesday planning to run for city council seats have been declared ineligible. (See links below.)
