Talmo mayor dies

TALMO - The longtime mayor of Talmo died Wednesday.

Larry Joe "Woody" Wood, who was 66, had been Talmo's mayor for 24 years.

According to the city website, Wood "passed away peacefully this morning (Wednesday morning) following an illness."

Wood was also the founder of Etcon Staffing Services and Walnut Creek Turf Farm. He served as Treasurer of J Buck Trail Hunting Club and was owner of Gum Log and Talmo Partners.

The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 at Talmo Baptist Church.
