GANESVILLE -- The Gainesville girls softball team opened Region 8-AAAAA play with an 11-3 win over Clarke Central in five innings Tuesday.
Kara England (2-1) got the win on the mound for Gainesville (2-3, 1-0 Region 8-AAAAA) scattering four hits and striking out three.
Kayla Street pitched the final two innings striking out six for the Lady Elephants.
Whitney Ledford led Gainesville with two hits, and Kayla Montague, Kayla Street (one RBI), Angellika Goss, and Tyra Newton (two RBI) had one hit apiece.
Gainesville next will play host to East Hall Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Lanier Point.
