Throughout northeast Georgia the crunch of pads and barks of coaching staffs fill the air -- football season is literally days away.

A big sign that kickoff is closing in comes this week, as a number of area teams take part in scrimmages against each other.

Below, you can see a full list of area programs and the scrimmage schedule set up over the coming days.

The scrimmages will give teams a chance to hit someone other than themselves, as the race for 2013 hits the stretch run. Most programs will take to the field on Friday to knock the rust off, and there are some intriguing situations for area teams, as coaches look for facets of their teams that need work before kick off.

For a handful of squads that kickoff is just over a week away -- including Johnson and West Hall, Dawson County and East Hall (who will face off against each other on Aug. 23) and Towns County.

Most programs will open the 2013 season on Aug. 30.
