CLEVELAND - Phone service has been restored to the White County Sheriff's Office/Detention Center after being out for about 12 hours.
White County Sheriff Neal Walden said the phone service for the entire facility went down around 9 p.m. Monday.
Citizens with emergencies were still able to, as they should do anyway, call 9-1-1 for assistance.
Walden reported phone services were back up around 9:30 Tuesday morning.
It is unknown, at this time, what caused the outage.
Jackie Dean, manager for plant operations with Windstream, said they had the phone problem corrected around midnight, but that there were other problems inside the jail facility that were the responsibility of the county information technology department.
