Father and children recovering after hit-and-run on I-85

LAWRENCEVILLE - The woman killed in Monday's hit and run accident has been identified. The driver and children passengers have also been confirmed as her family.

34-year-old Rabia Adnan was not wearing a seat belt when she was ejected from the front passenger seat of the family's SUV. A semi-truck forced their SUV out of the lane and into a box truck.

Adnan's two children, ages 7 and 4, were properly secured in their car seats and were taken to Children's of Egleston after the accident. Both children have been released from the hospital and are with their father, the driver.

The driver of the semi has been identified, however, charges in the accident will not be made until after the investigation, nor will his identity be released. Authorities believe it's possible the driver of the semi was unaware he hit the SUV.

Witnesses of the accident are encouraged to call AIU investigators at 678-442-5626.
