The Sports Network announced its 2013 preseason All-America teams on Monday with junior running back Dominique Swope and junior offensive tackle Garrett Frye representing Georgia Southern on its first and second teams, respectively.
Buford High graduate Swope recently became the Eagles' first back-to-back 1,000-yard rusher since Jermaine Austin in 2002-2003 and finished the 2012 season with 1,246 yards and 16 touchdowns. Frye was selected a third team All-American by the Associated Press and The Sports Network last season, helping Georgia Southern to its ninth NCAA rushing title in 2012 with a 399.4 yards per game average.
One of only four sophomores to appear in the 2012 NCAA FCS top 25 rushing list, Swope earned first team All-America honors from College Sports Journal and ranked in the Southern Conference's top five for rushing and scoring. He tallied six 100-yard games and is poised to break into Georgia Southern's career top 10 for rushing yards (2,269).
Frye started all 14 games in 2012 at tackle and played 94 percent of the snaps at that position. He registered the second-most knockdowns during the regular season with 72 and had double-digit totals against Elon and Old Dominion in the playoffs.
