Habersham Relay for Life seeks to 'crush cancer'

CLARKESVILLE - Habersham County residents and organizations joined forces Friday night to raise money and awareness for cancer research through the annual Relay for Life.

Held at the Habersham County Fairgrounds, this year's event included a "Crush Cancer" demonstration sponsored by Southern Bank & Trust, during which an oversized military-style vehicle crushed several smaller cars in a fashion similar to a monster truck rally.

Proceeds from this year's event, as with all Relay for Life functions, will go to the American Cancer Society.

The results of this year's event were not immediately available.
