Nissan Cube donated to NGTC Automotive Program

By Staff
CLARKESVILLE - Recently, the Nissan North America Technical Training Center in Marietta donated a 2009 Nissan Cube to the North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) Automotive Technology Program.

"The Cube will be a great learning tool for our students," said NGTC Instructor Kevin McCurry. "Understanding the technology of automotive service is key to being a successful professional, and this vehicle improves the variety of learning experiences we can off our students."

To keep up with ever-advancing technology, instructors and staff, working with the NGTC Foundation, are always on the lookout for ways to upgrade lab equipment.

The 2009 Cube is the third generation of Nissan's line and the first to be exported to European and North American markets from Japan. While the exterior is distinctive with an asymmetrical rear window that wraps around the passenger side, the Cube's CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and Electric Power Assist Steering are features that will enhance the lab experience at NGTC, according to college officials.

"The 2009 Nissan Cube offers technology that we do not have currently in our fleet of training vehicles," said McCurry. "We really appreciate William Keeting and Chuck Searles at the Nissan location in Marietta for helping us get this piece of equipment to our lab."

Tax deductible gifts of equipment for the purpose of education in the NGTC programs may be made to the NGTC Foundation.
