Retired Gainesville dentist, former school board member dies

GAINESVILLE - A memorial service will be held next Saturday for a retired Gainesville dentist who was also a former member of the Gainesville Board of Education.

Dr. Robert Jennings died Friday at his home in Gainesville. He was 85.

A native of Dawson, Georgia, Dr. Jennings moved to Gainesville in 1956 to establish a private dental practice which he continued for 36 years until he retired in 1992.

He served on the Gainesville Board of Education for six years, including one year as Chairman.

The memorial service next Saturday will be held at 11:00 at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville.
