UNG welcomes new associate dean, marketing manager

DAHLONEGA - The Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia (UNG) recently announced that two positions have been filled within the college.

Dr. Russell Teasley, associate professor of management and international business, has been named associate dean for the Mike Cottrell College of Business and will manage internal operations of the college and its faculty.

"As a tenured member of the college's faculty, Dr. Teasley's experience in academics, entrepreneurship, international business and management will provide a great deal of leadership for our internal stakeholders," said Dr. Donna Mayo, dean of the Mike Cottrell College of Business.

Prior to joining UNG'S faculty in 2006, Teasley served as a graduate professor at Western Carolina University. Throughout his career, Teasley has served in both academic and private industry roles, including positions with the University of South Carolina, University of Tokyo, and as a principal business owner. In the past 10 years, he has authored and contributed to numerous academic articles, papers and proceedings in the areas of entrepreneurship and international business and the education of both subjects.

Teasley graduated from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., with a Bachelor of Science in engineering operations and from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C., with a Master of Science in project management. He received his doctorate in management with a concentration in international business from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.

Nick Kastner, a former financial and interactive marketing executive, has been named marketing manager, a new position within the Mike Cottrell College of Business.

In this role, Kastner will direct and implement marketing strategies for the college, Cottrell MBA Program, BB&T Center for Ethical Business Leadership, and the Center for the Future of North Georgia, Mayo said.

Prior to joining the Mike Cottrell College of Business, Kastner served as interactive marketing director for Red Clay Interactive, a digital marketing agency. Kastner was responsible for the digital marketing strategies for multiple clients in a number of industries and served as a member of the executive management team for the agency. While at Red Clay, Kastner also served as an adjunct instructor of management and marketing at UNG's Gainesville campus.

"Nick's experience in industry and expertise in the area of digital marketing will be a tremendous asset," Mayo said. "We're very excited to have him as a part of the Mike Cottrell College of Business."

Kastner graduated from Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga., with a Bachelor of Arts in marketing and a Master of Business Administration in managerial leadership. In addition to his role at UNG, Kastner serves as faculty for the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing and Management and has written several articles on marketing for financial institutions.
