Truckload of supplies headed to Okla. from Gainesville

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Donations continue to pour into Moore, Okla., some by the truckload, following Monday's deadly and devastating tornado.

Syfan Logistics of Gainesville is sending one truck to the battered town, full of items collected the past few days.

Greg Syfan said earlier this week his company has done this before for past storm victims, and the community always brings more than anyone expects.

"The community is absolutely amazing that we have here. It ends up we start with one truck, and like the last time, I think we ended up taking five," Syfan said.

The effort got off the ground Tuesday morning, according to Syfan, with a phone call from a client, General Motors in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

"They wanted to do something for Oklahoma and wanted to know if we would be willing to take care of the transportation. We said absolutely," Syfan said.

Collection points included Syfan Logistics and Turbo Truck Center, both at 2037 Old Candler Road in Gainesville and Gainesville First United Methodist and Lakewood Baptist, both on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville.

The truck was to leave Gainesville Thursday for Tennessee to pick up the GM load and head to Oklahoma.
