GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Kiwanis Club announced the recipients for the 16th annual John W. Jacobs Sr. Memorial Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement Tuesday.
The prestigious award is given every year to a law enforcement officer nominated by his or her department, who is dedicated to outstanding service.
This year's winners are Officer Doug Whiddon of the Gainesville City Police Department, Deputy Sheriff Tony Kelley of the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Auston Allen of the Georgia State Patrol Post-6 Gainesville TFC, Officer Richard Gunn of the Hall County Correctional Institute and RFC Eric Isom from the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division.
