Lakewood names Willis as students' pastor

GAINESVILLE - Lakewood Baptist Church of Gainesville announces the appointment of Jamie Willis as it students' pastor.

Willis earned a bachelor's degree from Samford University and Master of Divinity degree from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Since 2000, he served as minister to students at 121 Community Church in Grapevine, Texas.

His student ministry experience includes worship services, teaching, counseling and leading volunteers.

"Jamie brings a record of successes in student ministry and is gifted with a skill set for student s' ministry," said Lakewood's senior pastor, Dr. Tom Smiley, "We believe he will further our reach to students throughout the region with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are excited about his decision to join the Lakewood team."

Willis will lead worship services Sunday, May 19, as Lakewood hosts its annual graduate recognition day. He and his family will relocate to Gainesville in June.
