GAINESVILLE - Gainesville City Schools Superintendent Merriane Dyer reported Tuesday morning that Gainesville High School was vandalized overnight with graffiti.
Dyer said the graffiti covered several areas of the school. She said the vandalism appeared to be an end of the school year prank and was not associated with any type of gang activity.
School officials are in the process of analyzing film from security cameras with the hope of identifying suspects. Dyer said the graffiti was placed in areas under camera surveillance, so she expected those responsible would be easy to identify.
The School Resource Officer and Gainesville Police Department are working with school officials to find the suspects, according to Dyer.
She said the Mainetnance and Operations department was in the process of removing the graffiti Tuesday morning.
