Girls track: Caldwell-Booker wins AAA 100-meter title; Lady Tigers' Forrester 2nd in 100-meter hurdles

ALBANY -- West Hall's Maia Caldwell-Booker brought home the gold Saturday in the Class AAA 100-meter dash at the girls state track meet.

Caldwell-Booker whipped the field by nearly a quarter of a second with a time of 12.06 beating Keondria Simmons of Peach County, who finished with a 12.25 time.

Caldwell-Booker also anchored the 4x100 relay team to a fourth place finish. Caldwell-Booker teamed up with Simone McGee, LeNiesha Kearse, and Mia McKinsey for a 49.45 time.

Kearse would go on to finish second in the 100-meter hurdles with a 14.69 time. Amber Hughes of Douglass won the event with a 14.21 time.

Region 7-AAA had solid meet with three teams finishing in the top seven. North Hall, which led after Friday's events, finished fourth with 38 points. White County was sixth with 32 points and West Hall finished seventh with 30 points.

In the Class AAA 800, White County's Kristen Mitchell took third with a 2:29.41. Christian Pryor of Cedar Grove won the event in a time of 2:17.42.

In the Class A public 100-hurdles, Commerce had strong showing on Saturday. Zoey Forrester took second with a 17.03 time and teammate Lily Mather finishing fifth in 18.09. Aiyanna Crumbley of Marion County won the race with a 16.73 time. In the Class A 300-meter hurdles, the Lady Tigers' Sydney McClure finished fourth in a time of 52.10. The 4x400 relay team finished sixth.

Commerce finished fourth in the team standings with 33 1/2 points.

In the Class AA, Rabun County's Jordan Gihl was seventh in the 100-hurdles with a 16.84 time. In the 4x400 relay, the Jefferson 'A' team took sixth with a 4:12.04 time. In the Class AA 800-meter run, Jefferson's Camille Porter finished sixth in a time of 2:28.78.

Jefferson finished 20th in Class AA with 12 points and Rabun County was 28th with six. In Class AAAA, Chestatee finished 16th with 14 points.
