BUFORD -- Buford baseball will head to a deciding Game 3 with St. Pius on Saturday after splitting contests with the Golden Lions on Friday.
The Wolves fell 4-2 in the series opener before fighting back to edge Game 2, 2-1, in Buford to force the deciding contest.
Game 3, originally scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday in Buford, has been postponed to 6 p.m. Monday due to rain. The winner will face North Oconee in the second round after the Titans swept Adairsville in the first round on Friday.
The split was one of the few on a day when Flowery Branch, White County, Dawson County, Lakeview Academy, Riverside Military and Jackson County all were swept from the postseason.
The Falcons gave East Paulding fits but could not find a victory, falling 2-1 and 4-2 in Class AAAAA.
Meanwhile, the Warriors fell to Woodward Academy 5-2 and 9-0 in Atlanta in Class AAA. Dawson County was also knocked off by Blessed Trinity 10-0 and 4-2.
