3 busted on prescription drug charges

GAINESVILLE - Three people have been arrested by Hall County drug agents, in two separate undercover investigations, on charges of possessing and selling prescription drugs.

The arrests were announced Thursday, two days before a nationwide campaign by law enforcement to collect and dispose of unused, unwanted, or outdated prescription meds. (See separate story. Link below.)

Lt. Scott Ware, commander of the Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS) identified the three as Jennifer Lynn Rueter, 32, Braselton; Phillip Nethaniel Murphy, 30, Suwanee; and, Vernon Sale Houston, 54, Hoschton.

Charges against Rueter and Murphy involve a small quantity of Oxycodone. The case against Houston, Lt. Ware said, involves a small quantity of Alprazolam.

Ware said Houston was arrested in the 5300 block of Winder Highway.

"Agents arrested Mr. Houston without incident after he sold eight alprazolam tablets to an individual in exchange for $40..." he said.

Rueter and Murphy were arrested in the 5500 block of Winder Highway.

"Ms. Rueter was arrested with...Oxycodone which (was) to be sold to another individual for $100," Lt. Ware said. "Mr. Murphy was arrested while in possession of...Oxycodone."
