CUMMING - Exterior designs for the new Forsyth County Courthouse and detention center have been approved by a group playing a key role in the project.
County spokeswoman Jodi Gardner said Thursday afternoon the designs were approved earlier this week by the county's SPLOST VII (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) Jail/Courthouse Project Team.
Work on the $100 million project, which also includes a related parking deck, is expected to get underway this summer and is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2014.
The courthouse, jail and parking deck will be located in downtown Cumming.
