Forsyth County authorities arrest Dekalb cop on aggravated assault charge

CUMMING - Forsyth County authorities Wednesday arrested a Dekalb County Police Sgt. on an aggravated assault charge.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, 48 year old Scott A. Biumi allegedly got upset at a fellow customer in a McDonald's drive-through line last Tuesday night on Old Atlanta Road in Cumming.

Investigators alleged Biumi left his car, had a verbal exchange with the other customer, drew a gun and pointed it at the victim.

Authorities said Biumi works as a Detective Sergeant for the DeKalb County Police Department.

"Our deputies worked diligently and safely to solve this case. (Dekalb County Police) Chief Alexander and his staff were very professional and cooperative during our investigation into this matter, and we appreciate their assistance," Sheriff Duane K. Piper said.

Biumi was in the process of making $22,000 bond Wednesday afternoon. His next court date is scheduled May 23, according to Spriggs.
