GAINESVILLE - Elected officials and community leaders will be attending the grand opening and dedication of the Hall County "E-House" on Monday, April 22 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Elachee Nature Science Center.
The "E-house" is a solar and sustainable demonstration building located at Elachee. It includes solar panels, xeriscaping (a special type of landscaping that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental water from irrigation), energy efficient windows and insulation, and a "green roof."
The "E-House" was made possible through a grant awarded to Hall County Government, Hall County Schools, Lanier Technical College and Elachee Nature Science Center through the Appalachian Regional Commission.
Guided tours of the "E-House" will be provided under the sponsorship of EnviroShare, a collaborative environmental management partnership between local governments, businesses and non-profits.
Hall County Commissioner Billy Powell, Oakwood City Manager Stan Brown and Hall County Schools Superintendent Will Schofield will be among the featured speakers.
