GAINESVILLE - Hall County Parks and Leisure Services will hold a Public Information Meeting on the proposed Cherokee Bluffs Park on April 15.
The meeting is scheduled to take place between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Mulberry Creek Community Center.
Groundbreaking for the park was held nearly seven years ago not long before the economic downturn which left big holes in the county's budget.
The then-chairman of the parks and leisure services board, Larry Poole, said the park would help preserve "scenic" Hall County.
"It think it's just so important to preserve some green areas for the residents in this part of the county for them to come and enjoy; from that stand-point this is going to become a very special, meaningful place," Poole said at the groundbreaking.
The 101-acre park will be located on Blackjack Road and plans revealed in 2006 called for walking trails, bike trails, picnic pavilions and fishing ponds.
Nearby resident Paul Williams told AccessNorthGa.com at the groundbreaking that the park would preserve the land the way he remembers it growing up in the area.
"I had cattle over here for about 15 years, it'll be pretty, its just the perfect place for a park," Williams said.
