Golf: Ralston leads GHS rally to win North Ga. Invitational

By staff reports
DAHLONEGA -- The Gainesville boys golf team kept its amazing 2013 streak alive Tuesday.

The Red Elephants rallied from four strokes back to win their second straight North Georgia Invitational over Easley (S.C.) at the Achasta Golf Club.

Gainesville coach Bryson Worley said there were good and bad moments with the victory.

"Although it is a win, it was a tough one. We went head-to-head with Easley, which is one of the best, if not the best, team in South Carolina," Worley said. "But, we were disappointed, actually, with our score, but it was enough to win today."

Freshman Spencer Ralston continued his solid play finishing in second place overall with an even-par score of 144. Trace Crowe of Easley took the low medalist honors with a 4-under 140.

Ralston along with teammates Nathan Williams and Pep Brown all were named to the All-Tournament team.

It is the seventh team victory in seven events for the Red Elephants in 2013.

"Everyone is making a big deal that we've won all of our tournaments, and it is a big feat. We really just focus on what we can control and what we do," Worley said. "If we win, we win. We have different process goals that focus on our performance, not what anyone else does."
