GAINESVILLE - It took less than an hour to restore power to 636 businesses and residences in the EE Butler Parkway corridor in Gainesville Monday morning after something struck an AT&T phone pole at Race Street.
Georgia Power officials said they traced the outage to the damaged phone pole and found the lines wrapped around one another. The pole was not broken, which could have resulted in more extensive problems, according to company officials.
The power initially went out at 6:11 a.m., but all but 99 customers were back on line by 6:27 a.m., according to Georgia Power. The remaining customers had electricity restored by 6:57 a.m.
