Baseball: Dragons rally late to beat rival Commerce

COMMERCE -- Jefferson rallied for two runs in the seventh to pull out a 4-3 win over rival Commerce Saturday in baseball action.

Jake Franklin doubled, Trent Sorrells singled, and both come in on a two-RBI single by Andy Nicolaus to give the lead in he seventh innng. Sorrells would get the win pitching 1 2/3 innings and Micah Carpenter got the save pitching the final inning walking one and striking out one.

Robert Hayes was the tough-luck loser for the Tigers fanning eight, walking none, and allowing seven hits in a complete-game efort.

Jefferson took a 2-0 lead in the third inning but the Tigers answered in the bottom of the third with two runs to tie the game. Commerce took a 3-2 led in the fifth on an uneared run.

Drew Carson had two hits for Jefferson. Carpeter and Hanon Price also had one hit for the Dragons (15-2).

For Commerce, Chandler Rogers, Daniel Streetman, Devin Burnett, and Drew Hulsdey each had one hit for the Tigers.
