University of North Georgia women's basketball player Jaymee Carnes has been named to an NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as announced Monday afternoon.
It is the second time the junior forward from Gainesville, Ga. has been named to the WBCA's All-America team, and it is her third honor collected this post-season. Earlier this month, Carnes was named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region First Team for the second year in a row and is now a two-time All-Peach Belt Conference recipient.
She was also selected to the PBC Preseason All-Conference team prior to this past season and was named to the 2013 PBC Tournament's All-Tournament team after earning Daktronics National, Southeast Region and PBC Player of the Year plaudits a year ago.
Carnes led the Saints back to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament for the first time since 2009 and also led the team to its first-ever appearance in the tournament championship game. Along the way, she averaged 17.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season while logging the second-most minutes on the team at 903, an average of 33.4 minutes per game.
She led the team in scoring, rebounding, field goals made (193), field goals attempted (434) and blocked shots (55). She finished the year with 11 double-doubles and scored 20 or more points nine times while scoring in double-digits points in every game she played in.
This season, she finished in the top-10 in the PBC in five different categories including second in rebounds and blocks per game (2.0), third in scoring, fourth in field goals per game (7.1) and eighth in minutes per game. She was also 21st in field goal percentage (44.5 percent).
